Derka der

Today in Physical Acting our teacher Ken had us doing this exercise where we walked through the room, filling up all the space, and he would yell "Freeze!" Then he would say one of three things: "Quarter turn," "Half turn," or "Full turn," which meant that we had to shift our position in those increments and land in a new freeze each time. Then on top of that, if he said "quarter turn" we had to exclaim one word. "Half turn" meant two words. "Full turn" meant three words. So, in essence, we'd freeze, he'd shout a command, and words would blurt out as we froze in new positions. Impossible? No. WEIRD? Yes. Then at one point we were standing in a circle, asked for a volunteer, chose me, so I was standing surrounded by my colleagues and I had to do this same exercise with them all watching me. Eventually everyone had a turn, but going in the beginning is hard! I was so flustered by this activity. I would either shift my direction but stay in the same freeze, or I would just shout nonsense syllables. I couldn't do the exercise effectively at all.

I was getting frustrated and nearly came to tears. It was a lot of pressure! He looked at me and said,
"Get out of your way."

This is Group D! I got a photo. It's blurry. I'll try to get a better one soon.

Missing: Laura. The French girl. She is literally stranded in Switzerland right now because her purse was stolen. She will have to go back to Paris until they can mail her another student Visa.
