Well I'm back in Salt Lake and trying to update everyone on the audition. It was a great weekend, despite being much too short to actually do anything in the City. I had a great visit with my dear colleague Laura from the program last summer - she was so generous to let me stay with her (E 13th between 1st and 2nd Ave). The audition itself was pretty darn good. Before I went in I had to tell myself "Ali, you did not fly across the whole damn country to be anything but FIERCE right now. DO THIS!" I feel like I did the best I could do. Colin (the director) assured me that I should hear back "very soon."
A couple of things could happen - one is that they would offer me the Summer workshop once more and possibly invite me into the program based on the work I would do this summer. The other, obviously more desiring outcome, would be acceptance into this program starting in the Fall.
My greatest fear/concern is how I would possibly afford this move and life-adjustment after just graduating with my Bachelor's. I am in no position to move to New York City as far as my finances go. Last summer was a sort of transcendental Mecca for me - letting myself really experience the City as a sort of... "resident tourist" is what I would call it haha. Moving there for a (semi permanent) time would be a completely different story, and there is no chance of me moving there this Fall without some sort of scholarship/stipend/loan/grant, if not all of the above. I suppose we'll cross that bridge when we get to it...
Thanks again for the support and undying belief in me and my dreams - I am grateful and lucky beyond belief.
